Intergenerational Project

Intergenerational projects, managed by Age Concern, establishes "partnerships" between groups of young people (5-18 years) and groups of older people (55+).

Including senior citizens in specific projects in school encourages them to take a more active part in the life of school.  Senior citizens work with groups of children in reading, games, puppets etc.

Partnerships meet on a regular basis throughout the school year to share activities, interests and learning opportunities. The emphasis is very much on the partnerships being fun and mutually beneficial.

Activities at partnership meetings are widely diverse and can range from art & craft to living history, from formal to informal. Activities are determined by the abilities and interests of the participants and act as a catalyst to encourage conversation and interaction between the generations.
